Beneath it all, what say is there
who am I behind the mask?
The real me, can you see,
or do you dare not ask?

An open book which does not dwell
I've learnt somehow to hide
Behind the confines of my soul
in which my heart resides.

Perfection is over-rated
and life can be a mess
Filled with such diversity
I stumble through its test.

For judgements made in error
the hope that I live for
Not perfect, just forgiven
by He who keeps no score.

It seems I've known forever
even when I couldn't see,
But can you find the treasure
deep within the heart of me?

For when I can sit back and reflect
and ponder all I've been
I'll know that the experience
is what made the real me.

"I wrote this poem for the May Poetry contest into the WOSIB Literary Garden, as the theme was all about us as individuals.   It was so hard to write a poem completely about me and who I am, and so many ideas and great verses were scrapped in the process of composing....until I completed this one.   To fit an expression of myself into 30 lines or less is quite a task, but I think this epitomises the real me....and what's inside.   Can YOU find it?"
