Crystal Reflections

Pondering the fragments
reflections in the glass
Memories of another time
those which I thought would last....

A gift of life forever
a love to truly be
The depth of my emotions
within the heart of me....

Alas, a single heartbeat
a moment lost in time
Then took from me forever
the dreams I thought were mine....

And I began to keen for
the emptiness inside
In knowing what I'll never have,
a part of me has died....

If I believed in magic
I'd ask this crystal ball
To grant me now that heartfelt wish
which I have so longed for....

But if it were the Master's plan
my wish would surely be
Written in the Book of Life,
not crystal destiny.
